My small studio is located in the beautiful lower Wye valley near Chepstow.
Monochrome
My personal work centres on the Wye Valley, the Forest-of-Dean and Wales in general. It's a highly personal project, and instead of concentrating on commercial 'chocolate box' landscapes that are so expertly done by many others. I decided to try and forge something a little different.
The vast majority of my work is monochrome. I love it, its inexplicable, ineffable, something that is so expressive, pure and raw. Light does not have colour. Light has wavelength. The colour we perceive is generated by the visual cortex - its essentially fake.
The Negative is the absolute essence of purity of image, the absolute truth. It is so physical. The same can be said of the RAW file - almost. I have a strong preference in keeping image manipulation to an absolute minimum, preferably none at all. Digital and Film sit side-by-side, I enjoy shooting both.
Portraits and Weddings
I regularly take on commissions, up to half a dozen Weddings and a dozen or so portrait jobs per year. I limit the amount of work in this area as so keep these special occasions, well, very, very special. I hope these galleries will be on-line within the next few months and will feature a select portfolio.
My Other Work
Photography is a part of my business. It is supplemented by work undertaken in IT, print and web design and design consultancy. Variety is the spice of life, and for me, that is certainly true. A good balance keeps the enjoyment, thrill and burning passion alive.
Prints

On the Go
Plenty of processing and sorting to be done as I start the selection of photos taken on the recent trips to Snowdon and Madeira. I hope to have a few pictures from these trips added to the GALLERY in the next few weeks. And finally, I hope to finish the site before the year end.
